As far as I know, Melaleuca’s Sol-U-Mel® has been around since Melaleuca began but for sure close to it and it is a customer favorite. It’s amazingly versatile and effective, serving as a cleaner and cleaning booster, stain remover, odor remover, and more. It takes on tough and impossible tasks full strength and makes for an economical tool in your arsenal mixed at various concentration levels.
Interestingly, it is NOT marketed as a laundry product so I will start there. I consider it an essential product to have on hand in the laundry room. Yeah, a husband who does laundry! My wife Sheryl has plenty of other tasks she takes on so I have no problem taking on the laundry and Melaleuca products are basically miracle cures for many laundry challenges. Sol-U-Mel is a vital part of that!
I keep a spray bottle mixed 50/50 for laundry. If you have anything oily or greasy, Sol-U-Mel is a MUST as it will rip the teeth out of oil and grease stains. As a matter of habit, I always spray shirt collars to keep them pristine as those are prone (even in single day or less use) to containing skin oils, lotions, sweat, and a full payload of laundry challenges that Sol-U-Mel is more than equipped to destroy in battle without being harsh or toxic to anything other than enemy laundry invaders.
If you step up to full strength, you may be able to save a precious garment from various levels of oops, like brushing up against a grill with gooey tar like substance, or a host of celebrations gone wrong involving life’s best BBQ sauces, mustard, red wine, punch/juice, etc. It serves as a carpet and/or upholstery stain miracle worker defeating problems you might otherwise deem devastating and requiring expensive property replacements, or just living with the ugly results for whatever period of time.
If you have pets, Sol-U-Mel packs a double punch since it serves not only as a stain remover but an effective deodorizer. Actually, the same goes for kids (and even adults) with the stains they are capable of. Just being a carbon life form is reason enough to appreciate the stain and odor fighting benefits of this product.
Speaking of small children though, crayon art on walls? Yep, this is your magic solution. Bubble gum or chewing gum gone rogue, not that kids should even have these but when they do and things go wrong, you can be rescued with Sol-U-Mel.
Mixed in its most economical form of just a few capfuls to a 16 oz. spray bottle, it makes quick work of cleaning up spills that would otherwise dry sticky and perhaps even lead to foul odors. And if the spill is greasy or oily, Sol-U-Mel is a must for cleaning the mess. I noticed one Melaleuca customer recently noted that the original scent even keeps spiders from invading their camper. I doubt the FDA would endorse such a claim but that’s a pretty cool customer review!
