This month marks 16 years we have been Melaleuca customers, and a year ago in anticipation of our 15 year mark, I posted about the one Melaleuca product I would most likely choose to be that with which we are most impressed…Melaleuca Tooth Polish. This product has been impressive since the beginning of our customer experience but Melaleuca often finds ways to improve even their best products, like this one. Radical transformations like this time though are much more rare.
In our 16 years, and presumably many more years before that, the Tooth Polish has never been renamed, significantly relabeled, or noticeably changed. As I write this, we have just begun our new journey with the first “new” tube after using up our last tube of the “old” formulation.
I’ll have to admit, much like trying the Melaleuca Tooth Polish for the first time as a new customer, the new ExceedTM Essential Oil Tooth Polish is a bit of a shocker at first. It’s a radical change in taste, with the generous use of the increased variety of essential oils shining through with all the nuances of a fine wine. The immediate benefits of its genuine clean, fresh mouth feel and polish that lasts 16+ hours are still very much present in their full glory, but the long term improved benefits are the part of the journey I very much look forward to.
You can discover more about the science, effectiveness, third-party, double-blind study and competition comparison, and use of safe, natural ingredients on the Melaleuca web site, so I’ll just share a few of my observations so far since our long term experiences are yet to come.
When I compared the ingredients, I noticed that a full one-half listed before are GONE in the new formulation (that’s 9 out of 18 ingredients). ExceedTM Essential Oil Tooth Polish has 27 ingredients, which means 18 (a full two-thirds) are new, and, it’s 50% more ingredients than before. Of course it’s going to taste different! On top of that, 9 of the ingredients are plant (essential) oils/leaf extracts, adding to the complexity in the taste extravaganza. Only 2 of those 9 were listed in the old formula.
It’s only fair to mention that while 16 years of using the old product meant an adjustment was in order, it only took the first couple/few days to get used to the difference. Knowing Melaleuca is committed to developing plant based formulations that are effective rather than just natural adds confidence to the experience. You will taste that, and will you feel it. The oils and other ingredients will make sure you do.
It’s too early to know if ExceedTM Essential Oil Tooth Polish will do a better job of compensating for my affection toward strong brew gourmet coffee but Melaleuca’s research indicates that it might; the old formula did exceptionally well. I do know this remains an impressive product to the degree that it’s still at least equally secure on my list of top favorites.
