It’s very good that businesses and public places are highly vigilant with disinfecting. You see workers frequently wiping down surfaces to minimize the risk of infection being spread. I wouldn’t really want to change this but there is a definite downside. This topic fits perfectly with what this site is all about because the cure could easily be worse than the disease.
First of all, the primary means to disinfect surfaces is chlorine which is known to be harmful. Because of COVID we’re exposed to significantly increased frequency and amounts of it.
It’s not my purpose here to harp on that fact. For one thing, we have little choice and can’t much control it out in public. You can limit exposure in places such as the grocery store but that’s less likely with a work environment, and you would have to make extra sacrifices to give up dining out, social gatherings, going to places of worship, etc. I personally found trying to sing during a church service, while breathing noticeably strong and toxic disinfecting agents, very uncomfortable and difficult.
